AI agents in Business Central
Since the 2026 releases, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central has been working with AI agents: digital colleagues that autonomously perform a single, defined task and submit the result for employee approval. The difference with Copilot is in the direction of work. With Copilot, you ask a question and get an answer or suggestion; an agent takes on the process itself, carries out the steps in Business Central, and submits the result for review. Agents run on consumption via Copilot Credits rather than a fixed license per user, allowing you to start small and control costs effectively.
These agents are now relevant for installation, service, and technical companies. For each agent, we have shared our practical experience with the setup on a separate page.
- Sales Order Agent: monitors a shared mailbox, reads incoming order emails including attachments, and automatically creates a draft sales order or quote from them—the quickest win for anyone who gets a lot of recurring orders by email.
- Payables Agent: processes purchase invoices end-to-end, from mailbox to invoice ready for approval, with a reliability score for each field and the original invoice image linked to the entry.
- Expense Agent: automatically turns submitted receipts into expense reports, including submission via the web app, Outlook, or email, duplicate detection, and per diem.
- Agent Designer: build your own agent for processes that are specific to your industry. You describe the goal and instructions in plain language, give the agent exactly the permissions it needs, and test it first in a sandbox.

One of the most reliable platforms
Microsoft is globally known for software like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and the Microsoft Windows operating system. For organizations, Microsoft developed the extensive Microsoft Dynamics 365 suite: a collection of cloud-based business solutions that support their daily operations. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is part of this platform and is specially designed for small and medium-sized businesses. The solution helps companies centrally manage, automate, and optimize their entire operations.

Cloud solution
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is available as a fully cloud-based solution. A major advantage of this is that the system is automatically updated, so you always have the latest features, security updates, and legal adjustments. This way, your software stays current without the need for manual updates. Since Business Central is accessible through an internet browser, you can easily work wherever and whenever you want — no local software installations needed. There’s also a free app for smartphones and tablets so that you can access your business data on the go. The application runs within Microsoft’s secure Azure environment, providing high reliability and security.
Complete integration with Office 365
A big advantage of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is the seamless integration with Microsoft 365. Contact information from Microsoft Outlook is automatically synced with Business Central, so you only need to enter data once. This saves time and prevents duplicate or incorrect entries. In addition, activities and interactions with contacts are immediately recognized and processed within both systems. You can also easily manage and update customer and supplier lists through Microsoft Excel, so you can keep working efficiently within the familiar Microsoft environment.

The history of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Microsoft Dynamics NAV, also known as Navision or NAV, has been one of the most well-known ERP systems for years. In the spring of 2018, Microsoft introduced the successor to NAV 2018, which was thereafter known as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Unlike NAV, this modern version is completely cloud-based. Want to know more about the differences? We’re happy to explain further.
