Inventory Templates
Do you manage multiple warehouses with Microsoft Business Central? Then, the Inventory Templates application is a handy addition. Managing all of these warehouses in Business Central can be difficult, as you have to use different SKUs for each item/variant/location combination and set them up manually. Bluace’s Inventory Templates application makes it easy to keep track of warehouses through set inventory templates.
What is the Inventory Templates application?
Suppose you have an installation company with a central warehouse and fifty service vans where you also store parts and materials that your technicians need daily when carrying out repair orders, for example. To prevent parts from running out in the service van and your technician being unable to repair them, it is logical that you want to set a minimum number of parts for each van. Manage these different warehouses with Microsoft Business Central. It can be quite a challenge with the standard functionality, as you have to set everything up manually for each warehouse, even if something changes. With Bluace’s Inventory Templates application, you can create inventory templates, which you can then assign to any warehouse to which this applies. Using these templates will save you a lot of time and make it easier to make changes.
Hoe werkt de Inventory Templates applicatie?
Using the Inventory Templates app, you’ll start by creating inventory templates. For example, you can make inventory templates for specific item groups, functions, tasks, and resource groups. Once the templates are ready, assign one or more inventory templates to a particular location. If you assign more than one template to a branch, they will be combined, and if items are present in multiple templates, all quantities will be added together. This does not apply to the fixed lot size, as the highest number is automatically used. Also, they cannot be combined if different inventory templates are used for the replenishment method or ordering policy. For each location you have assigned inventory templates to, you must designate one template as the default. The application uses the replenishment method from this stock template for items not appearing in an inventory template.
Once you have completed all the settings, synchronizing the inventory templates will create SKUs and transfer routes. Each location will have its SKU for each item or variant unless a particular item is excluded. If one of the assigned templates has “transfer” as a replenishment method, transfer routes between those branches are also created.
Furthermore, the Inventory Templates application can also create reports to see if there is excess stock in one of the branches. Such excess inventory occurs when the current inventory exceeds the minimum required inventory, the minimum order quantity, and the available demand. In addition, the application allows you to recover the surplus by creating a transfer order.
