“If something needs to happen, we all stand together and go for it”
Pieter Bart, Technical Consultant at Bluace
After his start in the IT world, he quickly noticed that he needed more substance and real projects. He worked at a secondment agency that promised a lot in terms of project-based work but, in practice, mainly amounted to long-term secondments in one place. “At some point, I was a bit done with that,” he says. Through his network, he already knew Mark, who was working on setting up Bluace. In 2018, he joined as the very first employee. In the early stages, he combined work for Bluace with assignments from his own network, while simultaneously helping to build the company. Gradually, his focus shifted completely to Bluace, and the company grew along with him. He is now responsible for the .NET team and technical architecture, and, together with Mark, he serves as the technical conscience of the organization. What started mainly as building himself has grown into a role in which he also leads the team and ensures that everything is well organized. He is still attracted to the informal atmosphere and short lines of communication. “You just know: if there is something, you can turn to each other. At the same time, you can see how Bluace is developing into a mature organization with more structure and departments,” says Pieter Bart, Technical Consultant at Bluace. Outside of work, he likes to be active: he enjoys cycling, football, barbecuing, and cooking, and is always up for socializing or a party. He lives with his wife and two children.

Within Bluace, Pieter Bart serves in a technical leadership role, overseeing the .NET team and the product’s architecture. He is involved in making technical decisions, determining the right structure, and monitoring the quality of what is being built. Whereas he used to focus mainly on his own development, his focus now increasingly lies in managing and supporting the team. He ensures that there is sufficient work ready, guides colleagues, and conducts performance reviews, among other things. No day is the same: from thinking about architecture and technical solutions to preparing work and helping colleagues get the best out of themselves. He describes the culture at Bluace as informal and collegial. “There is always room for a joke and camaraderie, but when something needs to be done, we all step up and go for it.”

In the future, Pieter Bart wants to continue to commit to a stable, high-quality working environment within Bluace. His focus is on further improving processes and making the right technical choices at the right time, so that more calm and predictability arise. “I want to move towards a situation where we don’t have to jump from one fire to another all the time, but where we create a pleasant, stable environment for both colleagues and clients through quality and structure.”
