“I felt right at home”

Ruud Hogeweg, Functional Consultant at Bluace

“As a team, we are working to make the fast-growing Bluace healthy and bigger. Together, we carry out successful projects and implementations for customers. Team members are not just a number, they are a part of the company and that’s how it feels. We do it together and are a team,” says Ruud, Functional Consultant at Bluace. Ruud is a true Feyenoord fan in heart and soul. He and his wife, Heleen, live in Zevenhuizen, close to Rotterdam, and they have two children, who are now in their late twenties. Ruud is also a fan of U2, loves korfball, and enjoys a Burgundian life.

Ruud explains: “Because of my position as a Functional Consultant, I am mainly involved in implementing Microsoft Business Central daily. Most customers are unfamiliar with BC, so I think it is important to explain its use clearly. Furthermore, I am responsible for ensuring that the system works properly and meets the customer’s needs. As a result, I am in contact with the customer daily, and together, we look for opportunities for improvement. Now that the worst coronavirus crisis seems to be over, I am fortunately doing this more and more often on location at the customer’s location. The great thing about this is that you realize what can be improved much faster and work together more easily. On average, I work for four or five clients, so my work is diverse.”

Due to the coronavirus crisis, Ruud’s first working week looked different than hoped. “During my first week at work, I had individual introductory meetings with all colleagues. Unfortunately, these were all online due to the coronavirus crisis, but everyone was still amiable and professional. I immediately noticed that everyone got along well with each other and that everyone was welcome. I immediately felt at home and was immediately included in the team. Furthermore, I was allowed to read myself using Bluace’s software. I did this through a good combination of self-study and guidance from colleagues. I thought it was an enjoyable start to my new job.”

“How did I end up at Bluace? I saw a vacancy and applied for it. In addition, I already knew Mark. I found the process to be rapid and pleasant. Due to the coronavirus crisis, a lot was online, but communication was still good,” says Ruud. “Furthermore, it quickly became clear to me that there is a lot of room for development at Bluace. In principle, we put away standard software, but we can be creative with this as team members.”

“My ambitions for the future? I want to be part of a successful company. I am delighted with my current position and have no desire to become a director. The nice thing is that I now interact with many people and still learn from every company, whether small or large. Every situation is slightly different, so I constantly have to deal with new things, and I can continue to develop myself. That’s something I think is important, by the way,” Ruud smiles.
