Minister de Jonge has announced that the effective date is postponed again. The Dutch Gas Boiler Act has been in force since October 1, 2020, but there is still a bridging period. The definitive effective date was initially January 1, 2023, but it has now been postponed to April 1, 2023. From this date, installation companies must be certified to install, maintain or repair gas combustion installations, such as central heating boilers, geysers, and gas fireplaces.
Why has the Gas Boiler Act been postponed again?
Many mechanics already have the correct CO certification. Still, a delay in the company certification process means that the effective date of the Gas Boiler Act is postponed for the fifth time. The original start date in January is not feasible, as there would be too few certified installation companies to meet the demand for maintenance and repairs. This is mainly due to the enormous delay at the Council of Accreditation and Admission Organization (TloKB) in approving the certification schemes. Ultimately, around 3,500 installation companies are required to have corporate certification, but there are currently only dozens of them. Installation companies are already preparing for company certification. Still, they have been waiting for at least a year until the certifying bodies are ready.
Don’t wait any longer to apply for the company certification
Minister Hugo de Jonge has also indicated that the effective date will not be reconsidered again and urges installation companies to start preparations now. On average, certification bodies need 5 to 6 weeks to provide an installation company with company certification. Installation companies that do not have the correct papers by April 1, 2023, may no longer be involved in installing, maintaining, and repairing gas combustion installations. Installation companies that still do this are punishable by law.
Is your administration already for the new Gas Boiler Act?
With the introduction of the new Dutch Gas Boiler Act, it is essential to guarantee the quality of your installation company and resources. In Bluace’s service and maintenance software, you can record all training, certifications, and authorizations for each installation technician. All this information in your administration is also visible during resource planning so that the right engineer is always linked to the correct assignment. Once on location, technicians work with the Field Service App to know exactly which actions they must perform. All actions performed are also immediately recorded. In this way, the administration of your installation company is ready for the Gas Boiler Act.
