Business Central Wave 1 2022: What can you expect?

First of all, it’s good to know that Business Central has been around for over 30 years and has changed quite a bit. For example, the well-known on-premise Dynamics Navision has now become a fully cloud-based application. In general, you can expect from the Business Central Wave 1 2022 that there will mainly be functional improvements and that the application will be even more user-friendly. With the Business Central Wave April 2022, there will be more than 50 improvements, but we will explain the most important for you.

1. Use Excel to design reports

Reports are, of course, crucial to gaining insight into new possibilities and improvements. Wave 1 2022 gives users the ability to create report formats in Excel. These formats can then also be edited and saved in Microsoft Business Central. So users now use all of Excel’s formatting options, such as scroll bars, charts, graphs, and pivot tables. This improvement makes it much easier to view and analyze required data.

2. New possibilities for financial reporting

Charts of accounts are the primary tool for creating financial reports in Business Central. Wave 1 2022 ensures that the generation of reports is made more accessible. In addition, users can now view their reports in the desired layout to quickly identify them and find the data they need at a glance.

3. Synchronize sales orders in both directions in Business Central and Sales

Business Central wave 1 2022 allows users to synchronize in both directions between Business Central and Dynamics 365 Sales. As a result, sales staff are now constantly aware of the latest changes and the status of quotations and orders. In addition, as soon as a change occurs in one of the applications, the difference is automatically synchronized and applied in the other application.

4. Improved integration with Microsoft Teams

Microsoft is constantly working to improve the integration between Business Central and Teams. The previous Business Central Wave October 2021 already brought several crucial improvements, making it possible, among other things, to send chat messages via Teams from Business Central. In the April 2022 wave, the details window will have more space on the screen, and it will be possible to display more fields and actions simultaneously. The FactBox is also automatically shown if there is enough space. Users also open Business Central in the browser from the details pane in Teams.

5. Add email attachments to Business Central from Outlook

With the advent of this Outlook add-on, you can easily download attachments received by email to Business Central. Invoices, Excel spreadsheets, and other documents are now added to Business Central without leaving Outlook, so sent documents never get stuck in the mailbox again.

6. Check entered data while you work

With the arrival of this feature, Business Central validates data entered in documents as you work to prevent posting issues before they even occur. In addition, visual indicators notify users when potential problems arise, improving productivity, reducing the risk of errors, and saving time.
