Wave 2 2021: what can you expect?

It is essential to know that Business Central has been around for over 30 years, and it has changed quite a bit in all those years. The system is now a fully cloud-based application. In general, you can expect from the Business Central Wave 2 2021 that there will mainly be functional improvements and that the application will be even more user-friendly. With the Business Central Wave October 2021, there will be more than 50 improvements, but we explain the most important for you.

New functionalities in Business Central

Thanks to the new Wave, you now have the option to plan on SKU. As a result, you now have the chance to prepare for those specific location parameters and settings at both the product level and location level.

In addition, Business Central Wave 2 2021 will expand the Forecast module. Based on AI, inventory management with different variants is now possible, such as the color of a part. Previously, you could only predict the purchasing moment for part of brand A in variant B. Nowadays, you can also do this in, for example, color C or D. Keeping the correct stock level becomes even easier, so you can always continue to carry out the jobs. Furthermore, it is also easier to purchase items you do not keep an accurate stock, but which you order regularly. For example, think of notepads and stationery that your employees use. You don’t know exactly how many are present, but the stock does decrease because they remain here and there. Hence, you want to replenish this stock with some regularity. It will become easier to do this, thanks to the Business Central Wave October 2021.

Another significantly improved functionality is the banking module in Business Central. As a result, Business Central is now even better able to recognize, read, and process invoices, giving you even better insight.

Even more ease of use with Business Central Wave October 2021

In addition to several new functionalities, Business Central will get even more user-friendliness after the BC Wave October 2021. Microsoft has been working with the feedback from users and has managed to make the system even better. In general, they are minor adjustments, but they sometimes have a significant effect during daily work. For example, the instructions for using BC in the Business Central Wave 2 2021 have been properly addressed. As a result, it is now even more accessible for new and experienced users to discover and use (new) functionalities. In addition, the error messages in Business Central have been improved. As a user, you will now receive more explanations for an error message. Furthermore, you can click through the error message and resolve the error. So you no longer have to leave the process.

Furthermore, there are now some experienced Business Central users who were faster than the system when entering data. For example, quick users can tab quickly from one column to another, enter data, and then copy and paste data. The system was too slow to do this. Comprehensive Microsoft Teams integration in BC

Many companies choose Business Central because of the seamless integration with other Microsoft products such as Power BI, Outlook, and Office 365. This integration will also be expanded even further in the upcoming update, such as the Teams integration. After the update, it is possible to send messages from Business Central via Teams. The recipient then receives the notification in Teams as usual and also gets the link to the document in Business Central that it is about.

Furthermore, one of the best additions to the Microsoft integration is the ‘Export to Excel’ function, which allows fast data analysis, tabular data sharing, record entry, or bulk correcting.
