Maud van de Kuit, Functional Consultant at Bluace
Maud didn’t take the most obvious path toward IT. She studied Business and Consumer Sciences in Wageningen, specializing in consumer behavior and minoring in risk communication. Communication and language have always played a big role in that. “I’ve always spent a lot of time with language and English literature,” she says. In her free time, she still loves reading, from classic literature to fantasy and thrillers. After her studies, Maud first worked for several years in supermarket management at Albert Heijn, where she helped open a new store and was responsible for planning, HR, and employee management. Eventually, she sought a greater challenge and ended up in the world of Business Central through Xperit. “I had never even heard of Business Central before, so I just had to trust it all,” she laughs. Yet, she found that the consultancy world suited her really well. Through Ronald, who still knew her from the industry, she eventually got in touch with Bluace. “It didn’t even really feel like applying. More like I was being invited to join,” says Maud, Functional Consultant at Bluace. Besides her work, Maud has a busy social and sports life. She teaches salsa and Latin dance classes several evenings a week, does CrossFit, and used to compete at a high level in ballroom dancing and judo. Her love for cheese still plays a role in her life, too. “Cheese is really a hobby of mine, even though it always sounds a bit silly,” she says, laughing. She still occasionally helps out at the cheese shop where she used to work, “just because it’s fun.”
At Bluace, Maud works as a Functional Consultant and primarily handles all non-technical aspects of Business Central. In addition, she is increasingly learning about other systems within Bluace’s broader platform. In her role, she contributes to implementations, business processes, and collaboration within projects. For Maud, work ultimately revolves mostly around the people behind the systems. “Business Central is basically just a system where you click a button, and something happens,” she explains. “But people need to learn how to work with it and take each other along the way. That’s why I always call it really people’s work.” What immediately struck her about Bluace was the open and informal atmosphere. After years at a larger organization, the smaller and more personal character of Bluace felt right from the start. “Everyone can just be themselves here. Things are spoken out, and there’s a lot of room for humor.” That openness and freedom really appeal to her. At the same time, she actually likes that there’s still room to improve processes further and help build the organization.
In the future, Maud would like to contribute to the further professionalization of Bluace. She enjoys thinking about processes, structure, and automation within the organization, without losing the personal touch. “I think I can really contribute to that,” she says. She also believes it’s important that people can do what they’re good at and that responsibilities are better distributed within the team. She hopes Bluace can continue to grow with more clients and colleagues while keeping its informal, personal character. “Growth is great, as long as we don’t lose what makes Bluace so fun.”
