“For me, working at Bluace feels more like a hobby than a job”
Jan Ezendam, Functional Consultant at Bluace
After completing his HTS electronics program, Jan began his career in the marine industry, where he taught for 1.5 years at a technical training school. After that, he worked for several years at a radar systems manufacturer, focusing on technical documentation. Following this, Jan worked for fourteen years at Polaroid. He started in measuring instrument calibration, took various courses, including business administration, and progressed to a production manager role. He then gained management experience as a production manager within the executive team at Diversey and at a pharmaceutical company. At Geas, his focus shifted to process improvement. In addition to supervising technicians, he initiated and led an improvement project, which he later combined with managing logistics and the back office.
During this period, he came into contact with Mark and Bluace. When his role at Geas changed, he decided to make the switch to Bluace. “A choice I have never regretted,” says Jan, Functional Consultant at Bluace. Jan lives with his wife Tanja in Hengelo. Together they have two children, a 31-year-old son and a 30-year-old daughter. Recently, Jan also became a grandfather, something he visibly enjoys. “Once a week, we take care of our grandchild.” In his free time, Jan likes to stay active: dancing is his greatest passion. Together with his wife, he dances salsa and bachata. “We also love traveling, preferably far away, like Costa Rica.”

Nowadays, Jan works as a Functional Consultant at Bluace. In that role, he supports clients in implementing Business Central and advises them on process improvements and adjustments. “Thanks to my technical background, I act as a connecting link between functional and technical issues,” says Jan. While he also did technical consultancy in his early days, his focus is now mainly on that intermediary role. “In addition, I am closely involved in product development and, together with Mark and Pieter, form the think tank behind the solutions Bluace offers,” he says. According to Jan, Bluace is characterized by a culture that focuses on adding value to customers. “It’s not about putting in as many hours as possible, but about truly helping clients move forward,” says Jan. He also sees that mindset reflected in the way colleagues work together. “Colleagues are open, honest, and direct, and everything is always open for discussion. Communication lines are short, and there is little hierarchy, which suits my own way of working perfectly.”

Looking ahead, Jan knows he will officially retire in April 2028. Still, he does not rule out staying active at Bluace a few days a week afterwards. “I enjoy myself, and I do not see my work as an obligation, but as something I do with pleasure. For me, working at Bluace feels more like a hobby than a job,” Jan says with a smile.
