Business Central wave 1 April 2023: this is new
If you are familiar with Microsoft Dynamics 365 products, you will know that Microsoft releases two major updates each year, in April and October. April 2023 is just around the corner, so Business Central is about to be updated with wave 1 April 2023. This wave also includes several improvements that you, as a user, will benefit significantly from. We are happy to explain the most important changes to you.
Business Central wave 1 2023: what can you expect?
Before we begin with the new improvements, it is good to know that Business Central has been around for a long time, and many improvements have been made. The well-known on-premise Navision has become a fully cloud-based software application. The upcoming wave 1 2023 will mainly introduce functional enhancements and provide even more ease of use. The Business Central wave April 2023 has more than 50 improvements, but we want to highlight the most important ones.
1. Perform actions more efficiently using shortcut keys
Due to the improvements being implemented in the upcoming update for Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, you, as a user, can perform actions more quickly and efficiently using the keyboard, similar to what you may already know in other Microsoft applications. Business Central will adopt the familiar user experience of Microsoft 365 applications such as Excel and Word. When entering data in BC, you will soon use the duplicate shortcut keys to activate and use actions in, among other things, the action bar and navigation menus.
2. Solving problems directly from the error message
In Business Central, you may receive an error message if something is being saved while a particular field does not meet the set conditions or if data is missing. The solution is often simple, but it can sometimes be challenging to identify where the problem occurs. To make it easier for you as a user to resolve error messages, these error messages have been improved in the Business Central wave 1, April 2023. Error messages provide better information and guidance regarding where the problem lies, clarifying what went wrong. Additionally, with the added action buttons, you go directly to the data where the issue is to resolve the error message faster and more easily.
3. Working more productively thanks to the optimized action bar
Microsoft introduced the Modern Action Bar in the second update for Business Central in 2022. Based on user feedback and statistics about its usage, this action bar will be further optimized in the upcoming wave 1, April 2023. Frequently used actions will be placed more prominently on the’ action bar on all pages. This way, as a Business Central user, you will need to click and perform fewer actions to achieve the same results. Additionally, relevant actions will generally be easier to find.
4. Setting up and synchronizing master data between companies in Business Central wave 1
In the new update for Business Central from April 2023, it becomes easier to adopt the configuration for one company’s accounting into another company operating in the same environment. Additionally, you have the option to synchronize master data between these administrations. You can, of course, set which master data should and should not be synchronized. All synchronizations can then be reviewed in the synchronization log.
5. More options in the settings for Intercompany transactions
Thanks to the new update for Business Central, you will soon have more settings and options for all your intercompany transactions. Setting up these transactions can be complicated, so all the different steps are now included on one page to make it easier. In addition, it will also be easier to identify any problems, for example, due to missing settings.
Business Central wave 1 April 2023: all improvements
As mentioned, Business Central has improved in more than 50 aspects thanks to the new update, and we have selected the most important ones for you. Curious about the complete list of improvements? Check it out here.
