Originally, the Gas Boiler Act has been in force since October 1, 2020, but a transitional period still applies. The definitive effective date was originally January 1, 2023, but has now been moved to April 1, 2023. From this date, installation companies must possess certification to install, maintain, or repair gas combustion installations, such as central heating boilers, water heaters, and gas fireplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-why-has-the-gas-boiler-act-been-postponed-again\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">Why has the Gas Boiler Act been postponed again?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-link-color wp-elements-87a71e032e03bac44373f4d247ce9d4a wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">Many technicians already possess the correct CO certification, but a delay in the company certification process is causing the effective date of the Gas Boiler Act to be postponed for the fifth time. The original effective date in January is not feasible, as there would be too few certified installation companies to meet the demand for maintenance and repairs. The main cause of this is the enormous delay at the Dutch Accreditation and Admissions Board (TloKB) in approving the certification schemes. Ultimately, around 3,500 installation companies are required to hold company certification, but currently only dozens do. While installation companies are already busy preparing for company certification, they have been waiting for at least a year for the certifying bodies to be ready as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-do-not-wait-any-longer-to-apply-for-company-certification\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">Do not wait any longer to apply for company certification.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">Minister Hugo de Jonge has also indicated that the effective date will not be reconsidered and calls on installation companies to start preparations now. On average, certifying bodies take 5 to 6 weeks to issue a business certification to an installation company. Installation companies that do not possess the proper documentation by April 1, 2023, may no longer engage in the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas combustion installations.
