Fires in solar panel installations have regularly been in the news in recent years. Investigations have shown that the fire often had an electrical cause. It can occur if the installer does not correctly wire the connection. Insurers, in particular, felt the need to have solar panel installations installed only by certified installation companies. The SCIOS Scope 12 has been drawn up to meet this need, and the inspection will be implemented from the spring of 2021. We are happy to explain what this means for you as an installation company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-ast-global-color-2-background-color has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-62313de3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-scios-scope-12\" style=\"font-size:28px;font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">What is SCIOS Scope 12?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-link-color wp-elements-0a0293d9d0ebe3b521b7f2315c7c3eb6 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">Scope 12 has been drawn up by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scios.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SCIOS foundation<\/a> and added to the Electric Equipment Grant Program. \u201cThe SCIOS Foundation manages and develops the quality system for installation owners and inspection and installation companies for the inspection and maintenance of technical installations.\u201d In the Scope 12 inspection, a distinction is made between an initial assessment (EBI) and periodic follow-up inspections (PI). Naturally, the activities differ per inspection. Several tasks in an EBI inspection do not have to be repeated for every PI inspection. Still, in many cases, it is functional. It is handy for the owner when insurance for the panels comes into play. Suppose there has been a fire in a solar panel installation. In that case, an owner can easily demonstrate that the installation was technically sound by means of the certification. It is expected that more and more insurance companies expect a solar power system to be provided with a Scope 12 inspection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-62313de3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-digital-overview-for-certified-scope-12-companies\" style=\"font-size:28px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">Digital overview for certified Scope 12 companies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">Qualified installers may only perform the Scope 12 inspection. Installation companies can get certified to obtain the SCIOS Certificate from a Certification Body (CI). After installers have completed the SCIOS Scope 12 training, the SCIOS Certificate is awarded.
