Microsoft announced the New Commerce Experience some time ago. From March 1, 2022, the New Commerce Experience will be available for all subscriptions per user. This entry brings with it several significant changes. We are happy to explain it to you.
What is Microsoft’s New Commerce Experience?
The New Commerce Experience (NCE) for Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Windows 365, and Power Platform subscriptions is a significant recent change to the Microsoft CSP program. The change gives Microsoft partners new tools to simplify and manage subscriptions. The goal of the New Commerce Experience is to give users more choices and flexibility in how and where software is purchased while enabling Microsoft partners to offer more options to existing and new customers. All Microsoft products are now delivered under the Microsoft Customer Agreement. As a result, users can purchase products from Microsoft and Microsoft partners more easily by simply supplementing the contract with third-party products. Ultimately, this provides more convenience and overview.
The most critical changes for users
Over the past ten years, Microsoft has added an incredible amount of features to Microsoft 365 without a price increase in return. The functionalities have been greatly improved, especially within SharePoint and Teams. For the first time in ten years, Microsoft will now make price changes effective March 1, 2022. In general, the price change is about 10%, but it can be as much as 30% in some cases. This has everything to do with the new subscription terms. Incidentally, the initial price change only applies to new orders placed after March 1, 2022. There is still price protection of one year after the first product is ordered on subscriptions that have already been placed.
In addition to the price change, Microsoft is also introducing new subscription terms:
With a monthly subscription, you can change licenses every month. But, on the other hand, the price is 20% higher than an annual subscription.
By taking out an annual subscription, you secure licenses for one year. In this case, you pay the monthly price per month, or you pay the total amount in advance each year.
- 36 months
Users can now also secure licenses for the next 36 months. During these months, you pay the same price monthly or annually.
Thanks to the new subscription terms, you as a user have more choice and flexibility and can choose the subscription type that best suits your company. Current users of our service and maintenance software and Business Central also have this option. For all three of the above subscription terms, it applies that interim scaling is always possible. If an upgrade to an advanced version is desired, this is always possible.
